Background

“Industry 4.0” has sparked a new industrial revolution, following the eras of the steam engine (Industry 1.0), electrification (Industry 2.0), and information technology (Industry 3.0). We are now rapidly entering the era of intelligence. One of the core elements of intelligent manufacturing is sensing technology, with machine vision (MV) being of paramount importance. In recent years, innovative technologies such as 3D vision and intelligent vision, and LiDAR have opened new possibilities for industrial robots, enabling them to operate and move like humans.

In the industrial manufacturing sector, machine vision is primarily utilized in industries such as semiconductors and electronics manufacturing, automotive manufacturing, machinery manufacturing, food and packaging, and pharmaceuticals. Its functions include defect detection, color recognition, dimension measurement, pattern recognition, and navigation and positioning, etc. These capabilities significantly improve product quality and production efficiency while ensuring the safety of industrial environments. As production shifts from labor-intensive to technology-intensive processes, the demand for machine vision technology has become increasingly strong, making it one of the main markets for machine vision globally.

In today’s fast-evolving technological landscape, robotics technology has become a crucial force driving modern societal progress. Singapore’s is intended to help the country gain a competitive edge in the rapidly growing global robotics market, which is expected to exceed 60 billion USD by 2028.Singapore’s foresight in tapping into this market potential positions the nation to advance its domestic robotics industry while driving transformation across other sectors.

The “Machine Vision and Robotics Enabling Industrial Manufacturing Forum” will gather renowned companies from the fields of industrial robots, machine vision, and optical inspection, testing and measurement to engage in in-depth exchanges and discussions on industry application needs and key technologies. This will facilitate the comprehensive strategic transformation towards “Asian Intelligent Manufacturing”.
