APE 2025: Global Optoelectronic Forces Converge in Singapore, Propelling Industry Collaboration to New Heights

The 2025 Asia Photonics Expo (APE 2025) drew to a successful close at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore on February 28, marking a milestone for global photonics innovation. This premier industry event brought together over 300 exhibitors from 16 countries and attracted more than 5,000 professional attendees, fostering cross-border collaboration and technological exchange.

During the event, 48 international delegations participated in tailored networking activities. Notably, four leading industry associations—the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA), the Malaysia Engineering and Industrial Federation (MEIF), the Thailand Electric Vehicle Association (EVAT), and the Thailand Automation and Robotics Association (TARA)—organised over 20 representatives for customized tours. These engagements facilitated targeted technology exploration and efficient resource alignment across key sectors.

Precision-Tailored Tours: Industry-Specific Pathways Address Core Needs

APE organiser designed specialized itineraries aligned with each association’s priorities, enabling direct access to cutting-edge solutions:

  • Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA):
As a driving force for semiconductor advancement in Southeast Asia, SSIA focused on semiconductor photonic devices and wafer manufacturing technologies. SSIA delegates engaged with AGC, ATOMETRICS, DAHE, FOCUSLIGHT, GERMANLITHO, KEJING, KEMET, and others, diving into photonic integrated circuits (PICs), nanoscale packaging, and pathways to industrialize next-gen semiconductor solutions.
  • Malaysia Engineering and Industrial Federation (MEIF):
Committed to advancing Malaysia’s manufacturing sector, MEIF prioritized smart production lines and precision engineering. The delegation visited BOXIN, CARLSON, CYBERNET, HEIDELBERG, HITRONICS, HUACHUANG, HUARUIKE, LASER 21, MOJI-NANO, SANDVIK, SG DYNAMIC OPTRONICS, SINCEVISION, SINTEC OPTRONICS, XINGQING, and others, exchanging insights on industrial automation, optical inspection, and intelligent manufacturing to accelerate technological upgrades.
  • Thailand Electric Vehicle Association (EVAT):
Aligned with Thailand’s mission to reduce urban pollution and enhance transport efficiency, EVAT explored smart mobility optics. EVAT delegates met with CHROMA, EDMUND OPTICS, FRAN OPTICS, GERMANLITHO, HAN’S LASER, HONGSHI, HONPHO, OPTO PRECISION, SINTEC OPTRONICS, and others to advance LiDAR, multi-spectral sensing systems, and other EV-centric optical technologies for Thailand’s growing electric vehicle ecosystem.
  • Thailand Automation and Robotics Association (TARA):
Focused on Thailand’s Industry 4.0 transition, TARA examined industrial automation optics. Representatives connected with ACEXON, ATOMETRICS, BAITENG, BOTE, GREENWICH, HOLOEYE, HONGYANG, MOVEON, OPTOCRAFT, STRONG LASER, UVATA, and others to evaluate machine vision, laser processing, and integrated automation solutions for smart manufacturing.
